Honestly, I think Facebook is a giant clusterfuck of useless "apps" that just piss me the hell off. If anyone super-pokes me again, I'm going to super-poke a hole in their skull with a 45. Now myspace is hoping on board the "app" bandwagon. I have always thought that myspace was the ugliest website on the planet. I *HATE* to look up bands on myspace, but I know it is a fact of life in todays world. So, when I do band research, I turn on this Firefox Plug in called "Stylish" and use the "myspace sanitizer" to disable all the flash, the horrid background colors, all the crappy images, and just get the text in black on white background. It keeps me sane. I used to like Facebook. But now I kinda like Myspace better when it has been "sanitized" |

I really go back and forth between which I like better (depending on what's going on on each site at the time), and am kind of embarrassed, for some reason, to admit that I'm on both. (It's so silly to have a bunch of the same friends on both sites.) I honestly rarely use Myspace anymore. Maybe b/c my friends are more active on Facebook? I agree w/ you, and even made a comment about the fact that Myspace is turning into FB. (I first noticed it when Myspace started instituting the "status message" crap that FB has.) The reason people liked Myspace was b/c it was NOT Facebook. Now, it's not so easy to tell the difference. I guess I say the "embarrassed" thing b/c I'm sad to admit that I've become so dependent(?) on the Internet for socializing and whatnot...but I don't know why. (I'm searching for the right explanation for it all.) Plenty of people are the same way. This is such an odd age for humanity... I'll have to look for that FF filter. It sounds glorious. |

One thing I do like about Facebook is now that it has become the most popular social networking site, I've been contacted by a bunch of former high school classmates. Since I went to high school in St. Louis, it is quite cool to come in contact with friends from long ago. However, I absolutely can not stand being inundated with useless "app" requests. Pokes, super pokes, movies, trivia, snow balls, quizzes... facebook is the "bloat ware" of social networking. They might as well call it Microsoft Facebook. I'm going to *try* and add more social networking stuff to the AMN in the next few months... however, I'm going to keep the AMN slim, trim, and to the point. What else do you need besides friends, a blog, video, audio, photos, and a bulletin board? The rest just gets in the way. Perhaps a few cool games, but that is it. |
