NIN Day Zero Yeah, Yeah, but I thought it was a decent Industrial release (finally). Hadn't released a decent album since "Broken" and "Fixed." |

what the fuck ever, I may not know combichrist or that other one, but I DO know that skinnypuppy stopped making good records after RABIES.... and don't try to defend last rites...the process was o.k but those two newest ones are a fucking travesty.. however, i thought the RX/ritalin project was cool, their cover of pink floyd's "scarecrow" was better than most and "crackhead's waltz" is scary as shit...don't assume people on here are ignorant of ANYTHING...just because we don't talk about industrial music doesn't mean we didn't go through that phase in the 90's(well i don't know if i really ever grew out of it..i just listened to rabies the other day.... which reminds me i think i saw uriah on st. pat's but i was too busy dragging my tired ass home from work to say Hi)...also did you catch russenorsk play their joy division set? |

lots and lots of WITCHCRAFT today...all of them in fact. HEAVY ROTATION: BIG BLACK(I've got a killer mixtape of all the relevant material from my vinyl collection if anyone wants a copy). DYSTOPIA...they just released their final recording so I've been geekin' like a fiend on that (I also have a mixtape of a bunch of their shit too, anyone?) SIGNAL LOST-children of the wasteland-powerful punk with a vocalist that recalls THE GITS' MIA ZAPPATA, this is straight forward punk but with a lot more going on with repeated listens. their influences are all over the place...too bad they broke up. |

Their version of Play with Fire was really really great. some stuff I checked out at sxsw last week that I thought was good...(stuff I'd never seen live) Strange Boys http://www.myspace.com/thestrangeboys Kurt Vile http://www.myspace.com/kurtvileofphilly TV Ghost http://www.myspace.com/televisionghost Home Blitz http://www.myspace.com/homeblitz Kelly Stoltz http://www.myspace.com/kelleystoltz Columbus' Guinea Worms were the best I'd ever seen them, and Birthday Suits may have also played their best show ever last Saturday night. wow. Greg Ashley too - solo - and great. check out those links if you're bored... -scott |

Fucking great show. I played with them during my brief stint behind the drums with the Makebelieves. Their drummer asked me to score coke and heckled Matt Presutti when he took half an hour to tune his guitar. They played for what seemed like two hours. I remember their second set consisted mostly of covers. Agreed. Guinea Worms have never sounded better . Check out Detroit's Tyvek for some similar jangled, Robitussin induced scum-rock. Another band everyone in Columbus has there pants wet over is a French underground act called Chevue. I don't have any recordings but the shit on their Myspace is fucking amazing. I missed them when they played a month a ago at Bobo and have been kicking myself ever since. Honestly, I've been geekin' out pretty hard to Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska lately. Something about this recording makes it particularly well suited to bleak, gray Ohio winters. I have yet to order any Wax Museums, but the songs I have heard have renewed my interest in snotty, shit-pants punk rock. Fucking "Jack-off Rat" is a song I could have seen the Swillhouse boys writing if we hadn't have been to stoned after school every day to play anything other Black Sabbath rave-ups. |

XM Radio. We have it at work so sometimes its just easier to flick it on. When I cycle through the stations, I have seen Skeleton Witch not once but twice on the metal station...pretty awesome. (It was Baptised in Flames both times I think) |

the wax museums made a lot of top tens for 2007 ...I'm curious to see what the big deal is... it's not surprising to have heard the 'witch on xm...and "baptised" I'd say is their flagship song. |
