| Bad Wizard | "If you took one shot of Lynyrd Skynyrd, one shot of Black Sabbath, and mixed them with a pint of Jack Daniel's, you'd get a taste of the sort of nasty guitar boogie Bad Wizard cranks out. In short, this is the soundtrack to the greatest, sleaziest bender you'll ever go on. Hangover sold separately." -- Fortune Magazine [ 1 Song ] [ 1 Photo ] |
| Bakelite 78 | Arriving in Chicago in 2000, singer and guitarist Robert Rial continued a musical direction he started at college in southeastern Ohio. Robert emulated the styles he loved most: country blues and swing, Vaudeville, Tin Pan Alley, American folk songs, jazz and mountain music. Many of these styles of music were originally released on 78-speed records. Some 78s were made from a "new" material, an early form of plastic called Bakelite. Bakelite 78 records preserved the music of this era. Bakelite 78 the band was born to bring them back to life. [ 1 Concert ] [ 1 Photo ] |
| Beat The Devil | Beat the Devil mix Billie Holiday-era jazz and blues and old black spirituals with folk and garage rock to come off sounding something like CocoRosie on crystal meth wrestling with Belle and Sebastian and the White Stripes...there are some truly amazing moments. -The Village Voice [ mail: Shay \at\ curryboys.delete_this.c0m ] [ 7 Concerts ] [ 2 Videos ] [ 6 Photos ] |
| Big Creak | Fans of The Big Creak have been drawn in by the band's fresh and original sound, and energetic live show. The band is known for blending the framework of Koch’s sincere songwriting with a melodic fusion of modern rock, pop, roots, funk, and world music styles. [ 3 Songs ] [ 4 Concerts ] |
| Bill Hudson | "As far as I know , Bill Hudson is the only one of his kind in town. A little John Prine, a little Arlo, and the omnipresent acoustic guitar, Bill Hudson is Roanoke's own Raindog. The best thing I can say is let Bill speak for himself in his music. Listen for free at MP3.com said the ballot. So I did. This may border on a personal opinion, but, if the definition of 'underrated' hasn't changed, I believe this more then qualifies." FENCE MAGAZINE ROANOKE, VA-Winter 2000/2001 [ 3 Songs ] |
| Birds of Avalon | Rock / Psychedelic / Progressive from RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA. [ 2 Concerts ] [ 1 Photo ] |
| Birthday Suits | Japan-via-Minneapolis rockers. They play Hopped-up garage rock with just a hint of that experimental/noise sound currently popular in the Tokyo rock scene. [ 3 Songs ] [ 7 Concerts ] [ 1 Video ] [ 2 Photos ] |
| The Black Keys | While the blues were being embalmed over on PBS, this twenty-something Akron white-boy duo released a great, contemporary blues album ? to absolutely no acclaim. The Keys may pillage the occasional Stevie Ray Vaughn or Hendrix lick, but they're not playing the blues to be precocious. They're doing it because Dan Auerbach's rusty holler is 100% pure ache. -- Time Magazine, December 2003 [ 3 Concerts ] [ 1 Photo ] |
| The Black Lips | The Black Lips are what you could call true visionaries of a skeptical age. Even from their very first 7" EP, you could tell they were doing their own thing on their own terms, and of course it didn't sit well, even with the dawning of the 21st century and all it promised. Wildly cross-eyed broken stars destined to waver in their importance in the cosmos, they know no boundaries and they take no pretense. Like a volatile and teetering amalgamation of the SWELL MAPS trying to cover the SWINGIN' MEDALLIONS, it's just not right for this world. Unless you long for theunhinged freedom that comes with music that challenges everything without becoming an unlistenable mess of sound. [ 3 Songs ] [ 2 Concerts ] |
| Black Sunday | Alicja Trout-guitar, Darren Orian-bass, and Chase Anderson-drums. Indie Rock from Memphis, Tennessee. [ 1 Concert ] [ 1 Photo ] |
| Blatant Finger | The equation of Blatant Finger is simple. Four long time friends playing what they've grown up on and know...tried and true, honest, hooky rock/punk anthems with a country-fried hint. . |
| Blue Lunch | Winners of the Clevland Free Times "big band / swing" 2001 music award. 7 or 8 piece band. Sound clips and more bio available on website. [ 1 Concert ] |
| Bob City | Bob City plays hard-drivin, hard-rockin blues/metal...kind of a collision of AC/DC and Motorhead. Dual-guitar shredding, thumping bass and driving drums lay down the groundwork for lead vocalist Justin Tesa's raw screaming vocals.

| Boxcar Satan | Splendid Webzine March 24, 2004 -- "This San Antonio trio makes a gratifyingly ugly noise out of junkyard scraps of punk, blues and unclassifiable weirdos like Beefheart and The Birthday Party. Buzzsaw guitars and bent buzzing bass lie beneath sandpaper vocals, creating a scratchy, alien racket that's much smarter than it initially appears to be. Ricocheting from barroom brawl blues to zydeco to Twin Peak-ish vibraphonery to pseudo gospel, the band spreads a layer of grit wherever it goes."

| Buffalo Killers | From the ashes of Cincinnati's late, great Thee Shams, the Gabbard brothers (Andrew on lead guitar and Zachary on bass) move from the Memphis garage to the dark, dank swamps of Boogieland. Buffalo Killers is a sharp ninety degree turn from their past, and the brothers' sympathetic playing is anchored by the sonic heartbeat of drummer Joe Sabaali. You can't really pin down the sound, though. Psychedelic, Joe Walsh (Barnstorm era), stoner blues, Neil Young grunge, trippy-era Hendrix, southern rock, Grand Funk, Skynyrdit's all in there somewhere. Live, the trio is mesmerizing, sliding from Mountain/Cream syncopation to what could best be described as Vanilla Fudge on mushrooms trying to play their entire catalogue without pause. - Bill Holmes / Pop Culture Press [ 2 Concerts ] [ 1 Photo ] |
