Greetings From Lubbock.Posted On: Sun May 11 2008 15:45:30 EDT- [ permalink ] Quick recap of the last few shows starting with Austin. Played a club called Beerland in Austin with a band called the Teeners. They usually pack the place, however pretty much all of Austin was dead the night we played. The teeners felt pretty bad. Their drummer pulled a Felix and stopped after the fourth song because she was pissed at the turnout. I heard the bartenders complaining that the streets were empty. Bad luck I guess. We played a pretty kick ass set. More people came in, but the crowd was still small. Ended up crashing at the guitar player's house, JJ. Small as heck apartment. Zack slept outside on the porch. The weather at night is downright comfortable. It has been 68 degrees every night since Austin. JJ gave us a bunch of money on top of the door amount because he felt bad. I woke up the next day and walked by myself to an all-Mexican grocery store that had a diner. As I walked in, the locals all gave me a friendly nod, like I was just another spanish speaking dude. As soon as I opened my mouth, however, you could see everyone staring at me. Picture Quentin Tarentino in that Mariachi movie when he went into the bar. As soon as started talking, I was no longer a local. I accidently ordered $11 in food! I walked back to JJ's and ate what is possibly the BEST mexican food I've ever had. I couldn't finish it, gave some to Zack and Curtis. The van got a flat in Austin. We drove to a mom and pop garage where some dude sold us a re-treaded tire for $30 bucks. We've driven 800 miles on it so far and no problems. I will have to blog more later about Denton and Lubbock. Everyone is packing gear up right now.
