Blog from the Road

Greetings.  This post comes direct to you from the Memphis Public Library.  Its a large building in mid-town Memphis, not to far away from the club we played a few nights back.  We've got some down time today and tomorrow. I was hoping to see Graceland or something, but everyone else I'm with has seen the place a few times already.  This is We March's fourth or fifth time touring the south and the west.  We did get to experience some local food. I had an awesome pulled-pork sandwich from the Bar-B-Q Shop yesterday.  Today, we're conserving money since we aren't going to make any money until Austin on the 8th.  So today, we ate McDonald's dollar menu.

So far, we've been lucky and actually made a profit on the tour.  The T-Shirts Zack made are selling very well.  We've also sold a lot of records.  The design is pretty sweet, and for a home-made pressing, they look very professional.  50% of our profits has come from the merch.  I am fairly sure we will run out before the end of the tour.  Should we have made more? I'm sure everyone wanted to, but there is only so much money between us.

I was the first to break down and take a shower after day 3.  Today, the rest of the gang joined in.  The weather here is perfect right now.  It feels like spring and not like the sweltering south. I guess we're lucky in that respect, since the Van, named the "Van-Tique," has no air.  The van is, however, extremely spacious.  I was worried about fluid building up in my trick knee, but I've been able to stretch out the whole trip, so it feels great.

We are crashing at a friend of Zach and Curtis' named Brandon. He has a nice house with three spare beds, which is awesome.  I've been sleeping on floors and pillows so far.  I remembered to bring a lot of things, unfortunately I forgot a pillow and sleeping bag. DUH!

Here is a breakdown of the shows so far:

Nashville, sucked. They had some sort of city-wide music fest going on, so no one was at the bar. We played a skate park in Madison, Alabama that was way better than expected--sold a lot of merch there to kids. Murphy's bar in Memphis was the best show to date.  The crowd was the most into it and we played with similar bands including Bear Proof Suit from We March's second home city of Milwaukee.

The thing about hanging out with punk guys, they have a lot of friends, but none of them have Internet access which is why I'm at a library. I haven't been able to get any Odesk work done.  I am going to try and find a signal tonight, someplace.  If not, Austin is extremely "wired" so it should be easy to find a signal.

That's it for now, everyone is getting ready to move.
