  INTERVIEW WITH LEMMY: half-blood timelord
February 6, 2008, 11:18 am - link to this post.
Lemmy: what can I say that hasn't been said about one of the most amazing human beings on earth?
well for one thing lemmy isn't exactly human...it's not really what you can call public knowledge but
lemmy is half TIME LORD, he shares a similar lineage with Dr.Who, who is a full-on timelord. This wasn't known until
the 1974 "space ritual" tour psychedelic space rock band HAWKWIND (lemmy's pre-MOTORHEAD band) set out on in north america.
After a bust at the u.s /canadian border lemmy was booted from HAWKWIND, apparently for being too much for the rest of the band( who were more keen on psychedelics rather than the speed and harder drugs lemmy was into)
In 1974 methamphedamines were not illegal but cocaine was. the border guards in canada could not tell the difference and this was
the reason for lemmy's arrest and subsequent removal from canada and hawkwind. After hitching around america hanging out with "friends fans and anyone who'd let me sleep off a speed binge at their house", lemmy decided it was time he returned to england to sort out his sacking from the band, and to regroup. only, he needed to be rid of the rest of the speed he had scored before boarding the plane. not wanting another run-in with the law
and not being a wasteful person it was decided that he would ingest the quarter ounce of homemade crank reportedly cooked up for him by a texan biker by the name of "Mother". This turning point in the life of lemmy would not prove to be his "death" like so many timelords before him. "apparently, timelords regenerate themselves into another, similar being upon their demise" says Lemmy."I had no fucking idea
I was bloody half timelord". The combination of lemmy's half timlord blood and the obscene amount of speed in his system caused a strange reaction. "instead of regenerating into a completely new person, i split in to three seperate versions of myself" At first this seemed to be the perfect solution to lemmy's new band problem. " hell man, i didn't even need to get on the stupid plane, after freaking out on all that speed
i found myself and my new counter parts back at home". having returned to england the plan was to start a new band with his clones but.."their egos are fucking enormous" lemmy explains. "in the end we all had to go off and form our own bands. I formed Motorhead with a couple of alcoholics i found, and the other two you might know as cronos and "the baron" from VENOM and AMEBIX respectively"
Before now this was secret knowledge, but comes quite clear when you hear their voices. "they both played the fucking bass didn't they"? says lemmy.
While these two bands would never receive the noteriety that MOTORHEAD would, their cult status remains.
" they were really important at their time" remembers a misty eyed lemmy. "but you know, they came from me but they aint me ...know what i mean"? Not much is known at this time abot cronos' whereabouts(it's rumoured that a VENOM reunion is in the works) but it is reported that "The Baron" now makes swords on the isle of wight.
Lemmy continues to tour with motorhead, a band that has rarely stopped playing in it's 20 plus year lifespan, while traversing time and space in his spare time. "Motorhead will never fucking die" lemmy proclaims. " how could we? I'm a bloody fucking timelord"!

  creator destroyer
February 6, 2008, 11:10 am - link to this post.

Full length number three from Athen's vanguard of punk/hardcore/garage/psyche, WE MARCH's "Creator/Destroyer", ranges from the speed and fury of 80's H/C punk to scrappy garage stomp and murky psyched-out jams, but don't think for one second that this is anything but the most scathing Punk record you've heard in a long time. While "the kids" are out there trying to recreate the past glory of these genres, WE MARCH manages to destroy them. Whether it's uptempo ragers like "beep beep beep"  or "the choice" (from their 7'')  or slower swaggering numbers like "never compromise" or "wash away"  you come away with the feeling that, just like the first wave of punks (who had no reference to what they were creating, unlike so much of the rehash of the past ten years), these guys don't care about emulating their heros, just about creating music on their own terms, and for almost ten years (!) they've done just that. Released on their own NON-PROPHET record label "Creator/Destroyer" proves that even in the 21st century, punk can still be original, exciting and inspirational. Highly recommended.
