Win a Custom Built Guitar by Gene Imbody
By Matthew Toledo - 10/24/2002
Local guitar Luthier and frequent AMN correspondent Gene Imbody is in the process of custom building an "AMN" guitar. This guitar will be raffled off to raise funds for the long delayed AMN compilation CD volume 2. Funds for the AMN compilation CD are currently right around $600. However more than $2,000 will be needed to replicate the ambitious 2 CD set.
|
Disk one of the 2 CD set will contain a standard audio CD with 70 plus minutes of local music. Disk 2 will contain up to 10 hours worth of mp3's from local musicians. Contributions from local songwriters to the MP3 CD are numerous and include rare tracks and solo performances from members of popular local bands like Peach Melba, Geraldine, We March, Guest, We Don't and many more.
Parts for the guitar were donated by local guitar parts suppliers, Stewart-MacDonald. Gene's hard work and Stew Mac's generosity will hopefully help push funding for the AMN's second recording project above the necessary threshold.
The creation of the guitar served two purposes. It will be given away to the AMN, but Gene also videotaped the creation process for a new upcoming Stewmac Instructional video.
"I mentioned the AMN website and the reason for this guitar in the video." mentioned Gene via email, "I'll throw in a copy of the video with the guitar. The person who wins it will get to see the electronic wiring process I used on this guitar. It sounds really good! I almost want to keep it for myself!"
