Advertise On The AMN

A Brief History...

The Athens Musician was originally created in the summer 1997 by local musician, writer and web master Matthew Toledo in order to help the local Freshmen attending Ohio University find other musicians with similar musical interests and to encourage them to participate in the local music scene. Since then the site's scope has expanded to include musicians of all ages. However, the overal focus of the site remains on Athens and surrounding counties in Southeastern Ohio.

The original site was nothing more than a patchwork of poorly scripted message boards and really, well... lame advice. As Matt's skills as a web site designer and musician grew, the site improved as well.

Currently, the site receives tens of thousands of hits per year, thousands of hits per month and hundreds of visitors per week and is experiencing an annual increase in views of 100%

The site has been featured in the local student run newspaper, the Post twice since 1997. Matthew Toledo also co-wrote the local music scene column with local musicians and AMN contributors Adam Schoen, Dan Dreifort and Dave Riesbeck for nearly a year in 1999.

Local writers continue to help the AMN by providing tips, biographies, and opinions on a regular basis. Many stories are sent to the AMN via e-mail by local musicians, writers and average Joes.

Where Does The Money Go?

The AMN is a working on becoming a not-for-profit organization. Any money gained through advertising sales will go towards the promotion of the web site and to pay contributing writers.

How To Advertise?

The AMN has two rate schedules. Schedule one is for local musicians and business owners. Schedule two is for everyone else. What is considered local? If you pay taxes to the City of Athens, then you are a local business or person.

The table shows you where you can place your ad. If more than one ad on is purchased for a particular spot, they will be rotated on the page per hit recieved on that page.

ADVERTISING RATES:
